Fire Storm 2007 Victims Fund

Organized by SDSU Assocation of Information Technology Professionals

Why should you donate here?
Several people have asked for more information about the fund and why they should donate specifically to this fund.

Why us?
AITP is a non-profit student run organization at San Diego State University. However, we do not have a charitable status. So any donations that we accept, are not eligible for tax deductions. There are many other entities out there to whom your donations are tax deductible. This fund was setup in an effort to make donation gathering quick and accessible. Many of the funds that have been setup only accept cash and checks. Our fund only accept paypal and credit cards. For many, making a donation is far more convenient online and virtually everyone has a credit card or paypal account. Keep in mind that we provide a receipt for any donations you make.

Where is the money going specifically?
100% of the funds allocated will go directly to San Diego fire victims via the San Diego Fire Fund. The money will be explicitly ear-marked for the victims of the the fires that affected San Diego County and will not go toward any administrative fees.

Whether you decide to go with us, or another organization I urge you to please help make a difference my making a donation. And please be aware of exactly how and where your money will go.

A few questions you should ask when making a charitable donation:
  • What percentage of my donation will go toward administrative fees?
  • What is the scope of the fund? Is it specific to a geographic location or a specific type of person? Is it for San Diego or the the State of California?
  • Will they provide a receipt?
I hope this information has been informative. However, if you would like more information about donating somewhere else, here is a list of other organizations accepting donations:

Please Help!
The fires that are ravaging California are the worst in it's history. I have started this fund to hep the victims of this devasting disaster. Many victims of the Cedar fire 4 years ago have still not been able to collect money from their fire insurance policies. It is unfortunate that big business are allowed to act this way in the face of such horrendous events. If the Cedar fire is any indication, the victims of the current fire storm will be without homes and with uncashable insurance policies.

You can help make a difference in the lives of these people by chipping in and making a donation. 100% of the funds donated will go straight to the victims of the fire.

We, the student organization AITP at SDSU (Association of Information Technology Professionals) have graciously setup a webpage for those that may be affected by the fires. We will be updating with important information for those who may be affected by the fire. Our goal is to making it easier for those who may be affected to get the information they need to stay safe.

Please visit our website www.sdaitp.org for more information.

Sincerely,

Julius Remigio
Executive Vice President
